So, today I have a bit of an inspirational story in regards to the Young Wizards series.

I'm in a biology class at my community college, and there's people of all different ages there. I've started talking to this one woman who's very friendly towards me, and she has... two kids, I think. One of the kids is a boy, and he doesn't like to read. He had to do a book report, and he picked out this massive Star Wars book that was way too many pages for him, and his mother had to force him to read it.

Now, I was chatting with this woman, and she told me the sort of stuff he does like to read (in terms of manga and stuff like that). And I thought about it for a moment, and then I recommended the Young Wizards books.

This was last week.

They picked up the first three books in the series, and apparently he's now about 3/4ths of the way through the first book and won't stop reading them.

This makes me incredibly happy. ♥

Carina Keeler rescues someone from a mugger with the help of the Shony(?). The next day, Carl asks Nita and Kit to handle her work as something has come up. Harry has gone to work. Kit refers to "by Monday", and Nita refers to doing Carina's work for the weekend. This could be a Friday or Saturday.
Nita and Kit go to Central Park and read about Carina's work, which seems to involve rats.
Nita and Kit are relieved to find themselves talking to voles, not rats. They are shown a withered patch of grass, damaged by a spell cast by an Overshadowed wizard.
Nita talks to a tree, and Kit gets more information from a lamp post.
Clark tells them more useful stuff, and they head for Belvedere Castle.
Mr B tells them nothing, but an owl tells them a man was floating. Kit says it's the weekend; must be Saturday
A weather center tells them about abnormal lightning, which Carina asked about. It also tells them the name of the Shony. They now know that a poisonous monster was following unusual lightning as though on a leash.
Kit opens a boulder and steps into darkness.

Okay, so, I don't know if it's legal to post something twice a day here but I'm dying to know. Did anybody archive--or know where the archive is--of "Wizards on Call." For those of you who don't know what that is it was a Fanfic/Profic as Diane Duane worked with fans to create it. But something went wrong and now it's all gone. The best I have is a summary taken from the Time Line in the previous post.

When I first mentioned to

desrose way back when that I had gotten The Book of Night With Moon for my birthday, she said that I’d have to tell her what I thought of it. I told her not to worry, because now that I had someone who knew this fandom she’d probably have to contend with me having lots to say after the last page was turned.

Hello everyone!

A thought just occurred to me. Why don't we make profiles of our favorite characters? We can start with Nita and if this works out, go on to Kit, Dairine, Tom, Carl, etc. It's also a game-- how much exactly do you know the wizarding world? So take your time with the research, if you have an obscure point back it up with the books (i.e. SYWTBAW pg.42), but most of all just have fun!

Annabel Andrews (from Freaky Friday (I have a personal preference for the book, rather than any of the movies)) becomes a wizard.

Annabel's just about 10 years older than Nita, so one can futz with the timeline to make her a peer of Nita and Kit (or the other way to make her a peer of Tom and Carl), or leave her on her own in the early 70s.

Does anyone know if the Young Wizards series was ever translated into German? I'm minoring in it, and while reading Harry Potter is all well and good, I like Young Wizards better, if I can get my hands on it.

I don't think it may have been translated to German- I can find other books of Diane Duane's on Abebooks in German, but not Young Wizards. I can only find those being sold in Germany in English.
