It's been 80 million years since I last wrote YW fic, but I'm excited about the comm and moving to dreamwidth, and I wanted to give you guys something, so here's my gift for Indy from the 2013 Christmas in July Exchange. Maybe with the active comm I might put together something new.

Ordeal by Nina Cassian

I promise to make you more alive than you've ever been.
For the first time you'll see your pores opening
like the gills of fish and you'll hear
the noise of blood in galleries
and feel light gliding on your corneas
like the dragging of a dress across the floor.
For the first time, you'll note gravity's prick
like a thorn in your heel,
and your shoulder blades will hurt from the imperative of wings.
I promise to make you so alive that
the fall of dust on furniture will deafen you,
and you'll feel your eyebrows like two wounds forming
and your memories will seem to begin
with the creation of the world.

Obviously, it's mid-terms week, because I have here for your viewing pleasure another selection of the gems (um) that fanfiction.net has to offer. Like the fanart, these are sorted alphabetically by author; summaries and ratings are also provided by the author.

A note about fanfiction: unlike art, which I'm indiscriminate with because I don't really have very good artistic taste, also, there's so little of it, I'm a bit more picky about my fanfic. Not a lot more, though. However, I am only going to be recc'ing stuff which I personally have read and enjoyed unless you bring it to my attention. If there's something that you love not on here, feel absolutely free to tell me and I will add it no questions asked (although I'll probably read it first).

Anyway. On to the recs. )

ETA: links fixed. *facepalm* Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] eavanmoore.

I wanted them, I should do them myself, right? :D So, since the general outcome of [livejournal.com profile] conuly's poll was that people were okay or indifferent to the idea of fic recs and/or postings here, I'm going to start doing thim. Probably infrequently, but it's all good.

Reccage

I'm going to start off (because I'm tired, and it's easy) by reccing four stories by [livejournal.com profile] persephone_kore, co-written with Alan Sauer; mostly because they're really good AND I know where to find them (always a plus.) So... links and the author's summary follow. These are all spoilers up until A Wizard's Holiday, so they're under the cut.

follow me to reccage. )

Um, so, you guys should totally rec other stories too, right? ;) And your own! Pimp your own stories. I'll even pimp my one to get the ball rolling, although it pains me. Because if we pimp here maybe people who don't write will start, right? :D This fandom needs more ficcers, people, go to it!
