short Darryl fanfic
Sep. 4th, 2008 01:03 pmI started a project of creating some news stories from the YW universe. Under the cut is one.
Boy recovers from autistic state; doctors baffled
From the Baldwin Herald. Feb 2002
Baldwin - (AP) - Darryl Jones seems like any other boy, energetic and active. Yet as soon as a week ago, all Darryl excelled at was rocking back and forth. His recovery has astounded this small community.
The three doctors we consulted expressed disbelief that such a full recovery was possible. Said one young physician, “We don't know what causes autism and we certainly don't know what happened here. We suspect a fluke of some kind.”
His parents are likewise baffled. “The doctors said there would be periods where he would seem to show little or no improvement. They said nothing about this happening,” said his mother. ”We're just happy to have him back again. We don't care how or why.”
When we asked Darryl about it, he smiled and said, “I went away for awhile, but now, I'm back.”
Some in the community have speculated that a miracle has occurred. We attempted to contact the Bishop of New York, but our call went unanswered and the line was busy as of press time.
Autism is a brain development disorder that impairs social interaction and communication, and causes restricted and repetitive behavior. The cause remains undetermined.

Date: 2008-09-06 10:25 pm (UTC)I like the news article format! This one really sounds like how it would have been reported. Are you going to collect these on a site somewhere? Would be really neat if someone good at graphics could even make them look like paper newspaper articles . . . (I can imagine ruffling through the articles with the arrow or corners half curled, as if I were browsing through newspapers . . .)
