A Wizard Abroad: in which I visit Dublin, Bray, and Greystones!

I just got back from my first ever visit to Ireland. While I was there, I spent the better part of a day walking from Bray to Greystones along the ocean, climbing Bray Head, and waiting for an Irish goth boy with a suspiciously glowing ballpoint pen to show up.

It's the edition/cover I have for the first four books! But I don't think they make them anymore, or at least I haven't seen them :(

That was exactly my response to the cover!! Apparently it's from the publisher Corgi, printed in 1991, and represents the first British publication of the novel.

If only I had infinite shelf space and infinite money, I would probably collect different editions of these books. Ah well. Congratulations on the find. :D

LOL, same here -- I found this copy (http://www.youngwizards.com/David-Wiesner-So-You-Want-Cover) at a local secondhand bookstore...but unfortunately the bookstore owners are intelligent people and know how much this is worth, and I can't justify spending $120 on it. I also discovered the same copy at my local library and was soooo tempted to check it out and "lose" it but that seemed like too much cruelty against libraries. Besides, who knows how many people I may have prevented from reading DD if I had done it?

I've also got these (http://www.youngwizards.com/Neal-McPheeters-cover-for-So-You-Want-to-Be-a-Wizard) copies (http://www.youngwizards.com/Neal-McPheeters-cover-for-Deep-Wizardry) of SYWTBAW and DW, and the British editions of the feline wizards books. Slowly but surely I am amassing large amounts of Duane! :)

You really should. I didn't find Dublin nearly as interesting as Bray and Greystones (and the parts of western Ireland that I saw). Ireland had been my dream destination ever since I read AWAB so finally getting there was really a dream come true!
