I actually thought about Fillion as Tom, but then I already had Dane in my head as Carl and since Fillion looks a little older (and Nita’s dad would be a little older as well) it came out like that.

I think it’s the glasses that get me on Barrowman.

Is it sad that the first thing I thought after reading "Nathan Fillion" was "Nita gets Malcolm Reynolds as a father? That lucky twerp!"

(And then I thought, "Ooh, tortured, mourning Nathan... the best kind.")

Um... for a slightly more on-topic post, I could see all of those except Eric Dane. He's too... muscular for my mental image of Carl.

Sigourney Weaver has my vote for Betty Callahan, and Cate Blanchett for the voice of Peach.

I actually could buy John Barrowman as Tom. I feel like Nathan Fillion is either not tall enough or just . . . has the wrong sort of face, but maybe that's just me. In my dream world, Paul Newman is Harry Callahan.

I'm totally showing my age here, but I always picture Daryl Hall and John Oates (http://www.amazon.com/Very-Best-Daryl-Hall-Oates/dp/B000056CCH/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1210225264&sr=11-1) as Tom and Carl, and Joe O'Connor (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0640382/mediaindex) as Mr. Callahan.

No, I actually see it. They’re not the Tom and Carl in my head, but it fits.

And of course now every time I read a part with them in it I’ll have a mental vision of them breaking out into Private Eyes, and I will dissolve into giggles.

Anything containing both John Barrowman and Nathan Fillion at the same time would be automatic win, regardless of the parts they play. ;)

Although I agree with the comment upthread that any part allowing Barrowman to sing would be a serious bonus.

Nathan Fillion is too young for Nita's dad. John Barrowman would be an excellent Tom though! I never thought it would work, then I clicked on the pictures & started imagining it, & you're right...

Oh my god I would LOVE John Barrowman as Tom. I'm not sure about Carl and Mr Callahan, but dear lord Barrowman as Tom...[drools]

Carl I feel needs to be less...male model and more rugged New Yorker. One of those guys who looks equally comfortable in beat up jeans and a tailored suit. Someone who could switch easily from watching the ball game to giving sage advice.

And Nita's dad just should be more fatherly. A drama version of Tim Allen.

I'd love to see Dakota Fanning as Nita, but I don't think she has the right look. The acting skills definitely, but she's too china doll which is disappointing. Maybe Abigail Breslin for Dairine?

I approve of all your choices. Someone call them and tell them they're making a movie that doesn't exist and they won't be getting paid for it. Also I feel Morgan could do Nita's dad awesomely but for some reason i feel some weird pity for Fillion cause everyone associates him with Serenity/Firefly. So you know maybe he could find a good part just not Nita's dad.
