Hi everyone - I'm new here. I post as Aerith on the YW forums, and I run the DD fanlisting which is here. :) </selfplug>

Now that I'm done plugging myself ::cough::, well...I don't really agree with the Tom/Carl theory. I think that two men (or two women) can live together and just be friends, without there being anything romantic about it. I've always seen Tom and Carl as just being very good friends. And Nita does have a line in High Wizardry about how Tom and Carl are just friends and they live together because they enjoy working together. So there's my two cents. Already made a reply to the post on this subject in the YW forums, but figured I'd repost it here for those who don't frequent there.

Poking through old posts looking for icons (hdd crash a few years ago and I'm just now getting around to finding some of them again...). I always thought they were just really close friends, and was actually disappointed when the Word of the Author said otherwise. Where do you find close friendships or even romantic friendships among men that don't involve sex these days? It's like either you're having sex or you have to stay distant, and it didn't used to be that way. Men several hundred years ago were understood to have very close bonds without necessarily being in a sexual relationship, and we've lost that. So my headcanon will always contradict the real canon for that one, because it formed before DD came out and stated that. As a result, I don't read a lot of fanfic for this fandom anymore. Sad, but true. *sigh*
