These Are the Days of Miracles and Wonder
Nov. 27th, 2003 02:47 pmI awoke in the middle of the night to find that my computer had finished crunching the first unit of data I had downloaded from the SETI Institute and was ready to upload the results. So I did and then it downloaded and began working on the second unit.
I'm pleased, as I've been wanting to be part of this for a couple of years, but this G3 Powerbook is the first computer I've owned which has been capable of participating.
I really hope we find something. As Peter Coyote's character says in E. T. -- The ExtraTerrestrial, "I've been waiting for this since I was ten years old." (Actually longer in my case, but you get the point.)
As Paul Simon wrote, "This is the long-distance call...."
