What business do they have blocking 'personal pages' anyway? Even my (large 4-letter computer) company only blocks things that look like porn. They should at least have a form on the blocking webpage to let you submit submit sites to reconsider. Or, you could drop a note to your college's helpdesk asking if they know how to get it reclassified.
I'm not really sure. Sites marked "game sites" and "mp3 sites" are blocked, as are Hotmail, AOL, ICQ, MSN and sites that supposedly contain "nudity." After the current crackdown, "Uncategorised IP" sites are also blocked. As for the censored bits, I'm not allowed to say way. I have been warned not to talk about the reasons. They were very clear about this.
I haven't been able to convince the college to unblock ErrantryWiki. The only thing I've been able to do is get it reclassified as "Not related to school work."
