Hi there, guys. :)

Hey, would anyone be interested in starting up a fic reccing/posting community, or starting a round of fic recs here? Because YW is a very small fandom, there isn't a huge amount of fic out there, as far as I know- there are about 170 fics at The Pit of Doom (FanFiction.net's YW section) Some of these are really excellent... some of them not so. Anyway, because of our fairly dimunitve size, there haven't been- to my knowledge- any attempts to collate the fics and make them more easy to find, whether by author or 'ship or genre. This can be a little bit annoying- or I think it is.

So... I need some opinions, and possibly offers of help. Would a community be a worthwhile exercise (ie would anyone join it except me?) Should it be on a rec-only-basis (only linking to and archiving fics tht someone, anyone, thinks are worthwhile and is willing to pimp) or on a anything-goes basis (Archive everything... A sort of more-organised ffn.net, with fic collated in the Memories.)? Or something else?

Yeah. Talk to me.

I'd join. I don't know much about fic communities and what the general rules are, but I think I'd rather read something that someone who is familiar with the fandom recommended than just whatever happened to pop up on my screen.

Have you checked out youngwizards.net? if not, you must!! It has a nice community of other YW fans. They do fanfic there and DD is sometimes involved (I think, I haven't done much in that part of the site)

She's a regular, actually. And DD did run an authorized cooperative screenplay fanfic (or is still running it) at another site, advertised on yw.net -- as of my last check, however, there was still a request up for people to take other fanfic and ideas for it elsewhere. There's... um, legal vulnerability, I think, to officially condoning it except under controlled circumstances.

I'm not a fanfic writing person, but I wouldn't mind reading it, and certainly wouldn't mind seeing it here. If there's no objections, in fact, I'd kinda prefer it here... I feel bad that it's so quiet.

Yeah, I would really enjoy reading some good fanfics. I've been to the section at ff.net, but don't have the time to slog through all the fics. I could certainly help out though.

I can memory it, not a big deal, and, in fact, add you to the maintainer's list if you want to help do that.

Unless, of course, other people don't want fanfic here. I'll make a poll, then we can find out, 'k?

Okay, wait.

So I'm asking:

1. Do people want fanfic?
2. Should it be here or elsewhere?
3. Recs or general or both? What on earth does that mean?

I could simply require that any fics either be links or cutted. That'd mean they wouldn't take up much room.
